SZABO, Louis – of Flint, age 85, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at Kith Haven, Inc. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 6 PM Friday, January 16, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew Czajkowski officiating. A Committal Service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 17, 2015 in the chapel at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4142 Flushing Rd., Flint, MI 48504. Visitation will be Friday from 11 AM until the time of the service.
Louis was born in Flint, MI on December 18, 1929, son of the late Louis and Sophie (Toporek) Szabo. He married Elsie Muntian on July 30, 1949. He completed Law Enforcement training with the F.B.I. Louis retired from the Flint Police Department after 25 years of service and was Interim Chief. He later worked for the City of Clio Police Department for eight years, primarily as an investigator. Louis attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #126 – Flint. He enjoyed fishing and hunting his entire life and enjoyed spending time at their cottage in Hale for 48 years.
Louis is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elsie; son, Bruce (Becky) Szabo; son, Gary Szabo; daughter, Cheryl (David) Price; five grandchildren, Christin, Lindy, Anny, Ben and Gwen; three great-grandchildren, Sofey, Tyler and Tommie; siblings, Marion Lorenc, Sally (Sam) Rich, Florence (Al) Jones, Steve (Joyce) Szabo; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, George and Theresa Muntian; sisters-in-law, Eleanor (George) Ananich and Eva (Louis) Weller.
