Michael Morrison
Flushing, Michigan
On Monday, April 5th 2021, Michael Marion Morrison (Mike) of Flushing, MI, passed away at the age of 65. He was a devoted and loving husband and an “always there” dad of four daughters and Pa Pa to eight
grandchildren.
Born in Dearborn Heights, Michigan in 1955, he grew up learning the construction trade from his father who was a cabinet and furniture maker, and his grandfather who was a mason. Mike went into the Marines and served for five years, which included during the late Vietnam era. Upon leaving the service, he went to
California where he received a degree from University of Southern California. After that, Mike explored the Southwest and eventually returned to Marlette, MI where his mother lived. He began a custom-building business there and eventually, in 1991, he met the love of his life, Jerie Morrison. They were married on August 18, 1991.
Together, they returned to Altamonte Springs, Florida, where his wife, Jerie was a Registered Nurse and his children were in school. Mike and his family then moved to Cartersville, Georgia, for a brief period, before moving to Flushing, MI to be closer to grandchildren. In Flushing, MI, Mike grew a thriving custom-building
business. He was a jack of all trades when it came to building. Whether a custom-built home, remodeling, or restoration, Mike could do it all. One of his proudest accomplishments was guiding the restoration of the Buick
Mansion in Flint, MI, which was written about in Architectural Digest. Mike loved providing families with the living spaces they desired.
More than that, Mike loved his family. He was the kind of patriarch who would do anything for his family, no matter what. He was a dedicated husband, who adored his wife. A favorite pastime he and his wife shared was visiting casinos and restaurants all around the country. When not traveling, he spent time at home with his wife where he also loved to garden, cook, and host family dinners. Mike loved to explore foods of the world, especially Indian cuisine. To his children and grandchildren, he was Pa Pa and was always ready with love and support for them.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jerie Morrison; his daughters and spouses, Amy Cox, Lorie Vizard-Abbott, Dana Vizard (Brian Burrows), and Katy Vizard (Dave Herriman); and grandchildren, Julia Cox, Jesse Cox, Melissa McConnell, Kylee Burrows, Luke Burrows, Kastle Abbott, Henrik Herriman, and Ivan Herriman.
A Celebration of Life is being planned by the family and will be announced at a later date. |
