EDGAR, Robert Archer – of Columbiaville, MI, age 71, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 6 PM Friday, December 2, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. The family will receive visitors 3-6 PM Friday, December 2, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Youth Corporation, www.reach-traverseplace.org or Big Brothers Big Sisters Flint, https://www.bbbsflint.org, in Bob’s memory.
Bob was born in Detroit, MI on July 31, 1951, son of the late Robert and Carley (Sherman) Edgar. He was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1969, where he was a star pitcher for the Davison Cardinals baseball team. Bob earned a Master of Arts in Counselor Education from Western Michigan University. He began working for the Genesee County Youth Corporation in 1978 and retired as the Executive Director of GCYC in 2019 after 41 years of service. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing softball.
Robert is survived by 2 children, Jake Edgar and Matthew (Erik) Edgar; 3 siblings, Lynn Edgar, Bill (Julie) Edgar and Jim Edgar; niece, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Edgar; partner, Connie Tacey; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carley Edgar.
