ROGERS, Robert “Bob” Charles – of Davison, MI, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2024 in Woodstock, Georgia. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 AM Friday, October 25, 2024 at Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 South State Road, Goodrich, MI 48438; Rev. Nick Berlanga officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM at church. Interment, with Military honors, will immediately follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Lapeer, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Heroes League, 4044 N. Lincoln Ave. #149 Chicago, Illinois 60618 in remembrance of Luke Snider or Goodrich United Methodist Church, in Bob’s memory.
Bob was born in Lapeer, MI on December 13, 1933, son of the late Edwin and Beatrice (Mabee) Rogers. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1955 -1957. On February 28, 1964 Bob married Sharleen Gabel, after meeting each other at Consumers Power as employees. Bob worked at Consumers for 30 years in the engineering department, working on utilities before retiring. He was an active member of the Goodrich United Methodist Church, where he and his wife served on many committees and boards. Most notable was his volunteer service making and distributing pasties for fundraisers to help build up the church. Bob was a member of the Lions Club of Goodrich for 25 years. He served in many positions on the board of directors and also past president from 2007-2008. Bob was noted in the club for being the coordinator of selling Christmas trees at Christmas time and being the mint chairperson, who put up mint displays at all the local businesses and refilling them every month and collecting the money for charitable distributions the Lions Club was sponsoring. Bob and Shar were square dancers, and they spent many years being in a square dance club with Shar’s sister, Nancy (Bob) Adams and danced in many different community events. After retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife, Shar, going on different traveling tours. They loved visiting with their son, Dave, and his family in Georgia and other family members in Florida during the winter season.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sharleen Rogers; son, David (Monica) Rogers; grandchildren, Camden Rogers and Cassidy (Nick) Babler; loving family members: Ron Duby, Cathy Duby, Allison Riley, and many more family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Beatrice Rogers.
