Gary Coote – of Mt. Morris, age 61, died unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at 4 O’clock on Monday, June 28, 2021, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. The family will receive visitors on Monday from 2 O’clock until the time of services at 4 O’clock and following the service, 4:30 until 7 O’clock. Cremation is to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or the Genesee County Animal Shelter.
Gary was born on February 19, 1960, to the late James Coote and Katherine (Mangapora) Cartwright. He went to Holy Redeemer School and graduated from Southwestern High School. Gary married Candice Bigelow on May 10, 1996. He worked at Hamady Bros for 15 years until they closed. He retired from Flint Special Services. Gary had a passion for music and encouraged his son, John to find the joy in it from a young age. He built a studio at his house for John to practice with the band. Gary loved his cars and took excellent care of them as well as his yard. It was always beautiful and well groomed. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his amazing memory for sports, history, music, especially Elton John and the Beatles. You could give Gary a birthdate and he could tell the day of the week you were born. Above all, he will be remembered for his love for his family, his world revolved around them and especially John.
Surviving: Wife, Candice Coote; Son, John Coote; Fur baby, Price; Siblings: Debbi (Tom) Williams, Tony (Vicki) Coote, and Patti (Dan) Idalski; and Father-in-law, Arthur Bigelow; and many many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He had a large extended family that he cared for deeply. He was preceded in death by: Parents, James Coote, and Katie Cartwright; Stepfather, Lloyd Cartwright; Mother-in-law, Beverly Bigelow; Sister-in-law, Elicia Bigelow; and Brother-in-law, Terry O’Malley.
