DEERING, Barbara June - Of Flint, age 85, died Monday, January 31, 2022 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Memorial service will be held 2pm Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 1pm Saturday, February 19, 2022 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Barbara was born in Flint, Michigan on January 2, 1937, the daughter of the late Willard and Olive (Fisher) Johnson. On September 3, 1955, she married Ralph Deering and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1992. Barbara graduated from Davison High School and graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Language. Barbara taught at Carman High School for a short period of time. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching University of Michigan sports and the Detroit Tigers. Barbara also enjoyed music and going to concerts. Above all else, she loved being with her family, particularly her grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Scott and Albert “Bud” (Kelly);
sisters, Glenda Thompson and Sharon Cummings (Larry);
grandchildren, Melisse’, Krisha, Alesha, Morgan, Gabby and A.J.;
great-grandchildren, Anthony, Elliot, Soraya and Meadow and sister-in-law, Carolyn Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Elaine and Elizabeth, brothers, Clarence and Vernon and sister, Judy.
