Roman, Sharon L. - of Clio, age 81, died peacefully on March 30 at her home surrounded by her family. Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 10 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Whaley Children’s Center (www.whaleychildren.org).
Sharon was born February 28, 1941, in San Francisco, California to the late Darwin “Darrell” and Ruth (Fieger) Merry. She graduated from Beecher High School in 1959. Sharon married Robert “Bob” Roman on July 15, 1961, spending 60 wonderful years together. Sharon attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church and was a previous member of St. Roberts Catholic Church. Sharon worked at Retailers Credit Bureau in Flint prior to her marriage and later worked as office manager at NuVision Optical and at Abdella EyeCare in Flint.
Following her retirement, Sharon began volunteering at McLaren Hospital in Flint helping patients and their families on the surgical floor. She enjoyed bowling with Bob for many years in a couple’s league at Flushing Lanes. She was an avid reader and looked forward to springtime so she could begin gardening and tending to her flowers and bird feeders. She also never missed a Michigan State University football or basketball game.
Most important to Sharon was spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed watching all her grandchildren’s many school sports and music activities. Sharon and Bob had many great times at outdoor gatherings with their neighbors including Doug and Sue, Annie, Pat and Bob, Ted and Nora, Christine, Ann, Alice, Charlotte, and Jeane.
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Peter Sabbagh, who provided wonderful care of Sharon over the last six months.
Surviving are children: Rhonda (Ronald Drzewicki) Barber, Brian Roman, Carla (Dennis) Reinhart and David (Kerry) Roman; Grandchildren: Meghan Crane, Adam Barber, Nicholas (Megan) Barber, Jared Barber, Kayla (Dan) Tousley, Chanse Setzke, Jacob Roman, Andrew Roman and Riley Roman; Great grandson: Cody Roman Jr; Siblings: Jackie (Charlie VanDuren) Swedorski, Marolyn (John) White, Dennis (Becky) Merry and Dawn Jovaag; Brother/Sister In-Laws: Mike and Bonnie Roman, Denny and Kaaren Roman, and Delbert and Sally Gauthier.
