OLIN, Karen Marie – of Montrose, age 78, died peacefully on Monday, November 15, 2021, at Hyde Park Assisted Living in Flushing. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Monday, November 22, 2021, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Pastor Bruce Garner officiating. Private burial will take place in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Karen was born on July 18, 1943, in Flint, Michigan, daughter of the late Dale and Marjorie (Trombley) LaForest. She graduated from Mott Community College with an associate degree in criminal justice and later became a correctional officer with the State of Michigan. After retiring, Karen made her home in Montrose. She loved baseball – especially watching the Detroit Tigers. Karen enjoyed being the host for many holidays and family dinners. She attended church faithfully and was generous with many charities through the years. Karen lived her life to the fullest, was adored and admired by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: Children: Lisa (Bob) Scroggins, Jill (John) Bisbee, and Tony Gembel; Many grandchildren and great grandchildren; Sister, Gayle (Gary) Dice; Brother, Wayne (Lori) LaForest; Many other loving family members and friends. Karen was also preceded in death by: Husband, Michael Olin; Son, Rick Gembel; Sister, Sandy LaForest; Brother, Lynn LaForest; Sister in law, Mary LaForest.
