KENNEDY, Theresa Marie – of Davison, Michigan, age 94, passed on to a much better place Monday, July 3, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Thursday, July 13, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment will take place following the Mass at St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM- 2 PM & 4-8 PM on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423 and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at church.
Theresa was born on September 11, 1928, in Davison, MI, the eldest daughter of Joseph Arthur and Rose Adelaide Grotto with two brothers and two sisters. Her early childhood was spent in Vassar, Millington, and North Branch, before settling back in the Davison area. She was a 1946 graduate of Davison High School where she sang in choir.
Theresa married John B. “Jack” Kennedy on June 2, 1951, in Davison, Michigan. She was the loving mother of 6 children: 2 girls and 4 boys. Theresa was always active in the public workplace, in the church, and volunteer positions, working through the years at AAA as a travel consultant, Welcome Wagon as one of the first ambassadors greeting new residents to the Davison Area, as salesclerk at Bill Farrow Uniforms, a family business, JC Penney, at Fernco and Allen Funeral Home. Theresa was also very involved with St. John church, as a member of several guilds and choir, served on the first parish council, and was an usher. She was a volunteer at the Davison Senior Center where she loved to organize the storage area and taught a class in life stories.
Her lifelong passions were her family, her gardens, travel, singing, crocheting, crafts- including painting, carving, sewing, and keeping scrapbooks for all the family members. She loved giving hugs to friends and strangers alike, and no baby within arms reach was safe from her embrace.
Theresa is survived and sadly missed by daughter, Denise Blondin; sons, Daniel (Maribeth), Robert (Valerie Blain), Michael (Sheryl); grandchildren, Jennifer (Jody) Cordell, Stephanie Blondin (Brian Visnovec), Melissa Punio (Jonathon), Kristina Zeman (Tyler), Courtney Kennedy, Kaylee Quihuis (Aaron), David (Megan) Kennedy, Joseph (Stephanie) Kennedy, and Karissa Kennedy; 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, former spouse Jack, and children Thomas Joseph and Kathleen Ann Johnson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents of Charter Senior Living in Davison, who welcomed her into their family in her final months. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Outreach East.
