Born on August 11, 1932, in Hazelton Township, Frank was the beloved son of John and Anna (Stasa) Tomcala. He proudly graduated from Chesaning High School in 1950 and furthered his education at GMI, specializing in Tool & Die.
In his youth, Frank enjoyed the camaraderie of playing on his adult basketball team and being a member of a bowling league, showcasing his competitive spirit and love for sports. A devoted disciple, he lived his faith wholeheartedly, finding joy in his spiritual journey and in serving others.
A farmer at heart, Frank spent countless hours working the land - a labor of love that shaped his character and strengthened his deep connection to nature and family tradition. His dedication to farming instilled in his family a lasting respect for hard work, perseverance, and gratitude for life’s simple blessings. Whether in the fields or around the family table, Frank cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, creating a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories.
Frank never met a stranger. He truly had no enemies and welcomed every person who crossed his path. He loved striking up conversations wherever he went - whether at the store, church, or waiting in line somewhere - and had an incredible gift for making people feel seen and valued. His family would often hear detailed, animated stories about someone he had just met, although he almost never remembered their name. It wasn’t the name that mattered to Frank, it was the connection, the story, and the moment shared.
On June 26, 1954, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Pavka, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso. Together, they shared over 70 beautiful years of unwavering love and partnership.
Frank had a fulfilling career at Universal Electric, where he dedicated over 15 years before retiring. He was admired not only for his strong work ethic but also for his warm, engaging personality and the genuine kindness he extended to everyone he met.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosemary Tomcala; three children: Victoria Schultz, Frank D. (Kim) Tomcala, and Jane (Chris) Taute; six grandchildren: Brent (Holly) Schultz, Melissa (Willie) Schneider, Ryan (Holly) Tomcala, Justin (Sarah) Tomcala, April (Austin) Finkbeiner, and Erica Taute (Dan Wilson); and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Fred (Mary) Tomcala, and many loving family members and friends.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, his brother John Tomcala, his son-in-law Jerry Schultz and brother-in-law Frank Pavka
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the charity of your choice, reflecting Frank’s lifelong commitment to faith, community, and service.
