SOMERS, JANICE C. – Of Flushing, age 83, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at her home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 310 North Cherry Street, Flushing, Father Brian Lenz officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Somers will be at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Funeral Mass.
Janice was born in Flint, Michigan on April 17, 1941, the daughter of the late Walter and Pauline (Pucilowski) Dziwura.
She graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1959.
On May 7, 1982 she married Leon T. Somers, Jr. in Flint.
She was an avid chalking crafter, Santa collector; loved quilting, painting, gardening and her flowers.
She did craft shows every week she could; was an antiquer, loved Rod Stewart, Elvis Presley and Michael Bublé’
She worked for Fisher Body 1 the majority of her career, retiring in 1989, as an Accountant.
Surviving are her children, Lisa (J.R.) Clagg, Michael Labadie;
grandchildren, Ciara (Jonathan) Gifford,
Brandon (Emilee) Clagg,
Cody Clagg and Trevor Labadie;
great-grandchildren, Landon, Ava, Jack Gifford; Bristol, Torie and Tucker Clagg;
nephew, Todd Glomski;
special cousin, Nina Anderson;
special friends, Judy Kotarak, “The Nitwits” and the "St. Agnes Girls” “The Cousins” and fur baby, Bella.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; daughter, Cynthia Cross; sister, Patricia Glomski.
