James Edward Daly, 76, died peacefully at his home on September 13, 2021, surrounded by family. Jim was born in Flint, Michigan to the late James F. and Ruby Daly and Betty M. (Peek) Daly. James was a past post commander of The American Legion Post 104, VFW Post 3724, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 100, 40& 8 Voiture 1086 and State commander of Grande du Michigan 40 & 8. Jim was a passionate veteran advocate all of his life having served three tours of duty in the Vietnam Conflict. Jim was elected and served four terms as Arenac Township Supervisor and was also a member of UAW Local 651, having been an electrical contractor, master electrician and owner of Daly Electric. In 2002, Jim retired after 30 years from Delphi, Flint East.
Most of all, Jim enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Brenda (Daniels), son Corey (Elisa) Daly of Freeland, daughter Casey (Andy) Anderson of Omer and son Jimmy (Angela) Daly, also of Omer. Jim also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, brother Larry (Linda) Daly of Omer and sisters Linda (Brian) Leja of Omer, Chrisandra Ketter of Canada Creek, Nerissa Barkman of Flint, many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Norm Nordbye and Ron Cannel and sisters Kay Ray and Pat Cannel.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Lee Ramsay Funeral Home-STANDISH CHAPEL, Standish, Michigan with Pastor Thomas McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Omer, Michigan with full military honors. The family will greet family and friends Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 1:00 pm till 8:00 pm and Friday from 12 noon till time of service at 2:00 pm.
