Paul was born in Flint, MI on March 6, 1929, son of the late Paul and Minnie (Gibson) Courneya. He was a graduate of Flint St. Mary’s Catholic High School Class of 1947. On November 6, 1954, Paul embarked on a new chapter of his life as he married the love of his life, Peggy Norris. Their marriage was a testament to love, companionship, and mutual support, and their bond remained strong throughout the years. Professionally, Paul dedicated 33 years of his life to the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1984. His dedication and hard work left an indelible mark on his colleagues and the community he served. His commitment to his duties reflected his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. Outside of work, Paul was known for his unwavering passion for hockey, particularly his fervent support for the Detroit Red Wings. He found joy and excitement in following the team's journey on the ice, celebrating their victories and sharing in their defeats. In addition to his love for hockey, Paul enjoyed spending time outdoors. Hunting and fishing were activities that allowed him to connect with nature and find solace in its beauty. He also had a special fondness for collecting hockey playing cards, a hobby that brought him both enjoyment and a connection to his favorite sport.
