Lorraine was born January 20, 1933, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Alfred Leo and Vivian Lucille (Griggs) Douville. She graduated from Clio High School in 1950, and later graduated from Nazareth College in Kalamazoo as a Registered Nurse. Rainy later met the love of her life, Joseph M. Dula in 1954 while he was home on military leave. The two were married on October 27, 1956, built a home on the family land, and raised 6 children. They enjoyed many wonderful years together before Joseph preceded her in death on March 17, 1979. Rainy was a Registered Nurse at the Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California for several years, and St. Joseph Hospital in Flint for over 20 years. She also worked in home healthcare, and later owned and operated Hair Etcetera Salon in Clio before retiring. Rainy was a faithful member of SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio, Ss. Francis and Clare Catholic Parish in Birch Run, and Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church in Bradenton, Florida. Singing was her true passion - she sang in the choir with all the three of her churches and with Sweet Adelines International where they placed 3rd in the world when competing in Russia. Rainy was very talented and played the Wurlitzer organ and the piano. She enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles with her husband, and playing Euchre. As a two-time breast cancer survivor, Rainy loved helping others through good times and bad, anyway she could. She was affectionately called the “Original Uber” taking people in need to their destinations – especially, the elderly back and forth to the airport. Rainy also enjoyed being active in her community and volunteering with the American Red Cross where she was able to get 5 gallons of blood donated by others.
