Richard Wesley Pickard was born to Esther Peterson Pickard and Robert V. Pickard on August 28, 1936, in Flint, Michigan. He served in the US Navy from 1955 until February 1959 as a Gunners Mate and diver. He married Carolyn J. Hitsman on May 28, 1960. They resided in Millington, Michigan, their entire married life. Richard (Dick) retired from Grede Foundry in Vassar, Michigan. He passed away at home on July 24, 2026. He spent his last days surrounded by his loving family. Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn and his four children: Matthew Richard, Christine Robinet (Fred), Tracy Danner (Lance), Toni Moore (Tim): 8 grandchildren, 3 step grandsons, 21 great grandchildren, and one step great granddaughter; three sisters, Elizabeth Parts (Gerald), Patricia Everson (Neil), and Jane Collins (Frank); and one brother, James Pickard and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: C. Margaret Stein and Joyce Whitehead and two brothers: Clinton and Robert Pickard. Dick enjoyed football, fishing, hunting, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be August 22, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Otisville, Michigan, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by Mass and a luncheon. Cremation service was provided by Cremation Society of Mid-Michigan located in Bay City. |
