RYKER, Barbara – a lifelong resident of Montrose, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, starting at 2PM, at the Montrose Masonic Lodge - 130 Parkway St., in Montrose.
Barbara was born on February 27, 1945, in Flint, to the late Nicholas and Stephania (Maciak) Fejedelem. She attended St. Michael Catholic School before graduating from Hill McCloy High School and later earned her bachelor’s degree in nutrition science from North Dakota State University. Throughout her career, Barb worked as a dietician at several nursing homes. In 1964, she married the love of her life and best friend, Wayne Ryker, and together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Barb enjoyed crocheting, playing FarmVille, and cooking for those she loved. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and playing pool and was even part of a pool league for some time. Above all, Barb loved her family deeply and treasured the time she spent with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Barbara is forever loved by: Husband, Wayne; Daughter, Sherry (Mark) Somers; Grandchildren: Nichole Somers, Megan Somers, Kimberly (Spencer) Roth, Mathew (Amanda) Somers, Charlene Ryker, Rachel (Aric) Sisk, Amanda (Ken) Hopper, and Jonathan Ryker; Several great grandchildren; Siblings: Steve (Judy) Fejedelem, Mary (Dan) Cleveland, Bethany (Robert) Throckmorton; Daughter-in-law, Janet Ryker; Sisters-in-law: Carol, Debbie, Diane, and Sheila; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. Barbara was preceded in death by: Son, William Ryker; Parents, Nicholas and Stephania; Siblings: Mike Fejedelem, Jerry Fejedelem, Paul Fejedelem, Matthew Fejedelem, and Cecilia (Jay) Billings; Father and Mother-in-law, Otto and Arlene Ryker; Brothers-in-law: William and Frederick Ryker. |
