Pamala “Pam” Kay (Harley) Lee, passed away peacefully on February 26th, 2026, at home, holding the hands of her loving daughters on the eve of her 80th birthday.
Her life began with a love story. She met the love of her life, Gary Fay Lee, when she was just 15 years old, and she married at 19. Together they built a partnership that would define the rest of her life. In the spring of 1970, Pam and Gary purchased Hickory Market in Thornville. For the next 34 years, the store was the center of their hearts and their home and became a gathering place for neighbors, friends, and generations of families. Together, they raised their daughters, Jamie and Josie, while building not just a business, but a legacy of care and service to their community.
Pam graduated from Imlay City High School in 1964. After high school, her love for cosmetology led her to the Port Huron School of Beauty Culture. Though allergies prevented her from continuing in that field, she worked at Champion Home Builders’ Executive Office in Dryden, Michigan, until she and Gary began their life at Hickory Market.
In 1986, Pam co-founded P.S. Computer Cover-Ups, creating cloth covers for office equipment and cameras at a time when computers were becoming fixtures in the workplace. The business quickly found success, serving clients ranging from McDonald’s to school districts throughout the United States.
Following Gary’s passing in 2004, Pam continued her commitment to helping others. She volunteered with Linked Hearts in Dryden and became involved with the Mid Michigan Therapy Dog Association alongside her beloved springer spaniel, Chance Roberts. Bringing comfort to others brought her joy.
Later in life, Pam moved next door to Jamie and Adam - the true highlight of that season was living beside her grandson Nate. As a loving grandma, she treasured every moment with him. They were best buddies. Their days were filled with picnics, dinosaur adventures, and late-night cookie-and-milk parties that felt like small celebrations of life itself.
As she needed more support in her later years, Pam moved in with Jamie and Adam and also spent cherished time in Ann Arbor with Josie and Chris. She was deeply loved, cared for, and surrounded by family.
Pam was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Fay Lee; her parents, Roy and Ida Harley; her brother, Donald Neil Harley; and her grandson, Adam Schmidt Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Jamie Porter Lee Schmidt (Adam) and Josie Ann Lee Draybuck (Chris); and her grandson, Nathaniel Schmidt.
She will be missed by everyone who knows and loves her — but most especially by her furry “grandbabies”: Bella, Dinah, Ruby, Pumpkin, Adobe, and Sycamore. To them, she was perfect.
Pam will be remembered as a loving wife, a proud mother and adoring grandma, a businesswoman, a friend to her community, and a woman whose quiet strength and generous heart left an imprint on everyone she met.
Pam’s cremation has been entrusted with Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. No formal services are scheduled at this time.
