Thelma was born in Flint, MI on January 27, 1927, daughter of late John and Elizabeth (Duffiney) Dinnan. On January 8, 1946, she married the love of her life, Evan D. Fuson, in Flint, MI. They shared many wonderful years together until Evan's passing in 2005. Thelma's life was marked by a deep love for her family and an unwavering dedication to her favorite baseball team. Her passion for the Detroit Tigers was legendary. She was a true-blue fan who cherished every opportunity to support her team. Thelma would eagerly attend spring training games in sunny Florida and cheer on her beloved Tigers in Detroit whenever she could. Thelma volunteered her time crocheting over 1000 hats and scarves for the Old Newsboys of Flint, an organization who helped her family during the Depression. Her given name was Thelma, however, she had many nicknames over her 96 years. To her extended family she was known as “Wink”, her grandkids called her “Grandma”, her great and great-great-grandchildren called her “Candy Grandma”. Her favorite name to be called always remained “Mom”. Thelma was a natural caretaker of family, friends, and anyone else needing help. She took care of her mother for many years as well as working at Suncrest in Lapeer helping take care of others. She took care of Evan, her husband of 59 years at their home until his final breath. Thelma planned huge, wonderful family reunions complete with games and prizes for all ages for years and years. Every family member can attest to how much fun it was playing baseball in her huge front yard or racing down the hill in sack races. Never a pushover, she was fiercely independent. One winter after spending time in the south she came home announcing to her husband that she bought a place in Lakeland, Florida (home of her beloved Tigers!). He could either join her or stay home, either way she was going. For many years, she told him the date she was pulling out and if he planned to go, he better be ready! One year, he wasn’t ready, it was a long cold winter for him, and he was packed and ready every year after that.

Thelma is survived by 4 children, Robert (Deborah) Fuson, Paula (Pat) Tunney, Debra Wright and Ronald (Bernice) Fuson; 3 grandchildren, Kimberly (Mark) Smith, Mandy Banyas and April (Evan) Wright; 8 great-grandchildren, Ellie Green, Ellis (Madison) Smith, Evan Smith, Gabe Smith, Stella Smith, Adeline Wright, Emmett Wright and Elliott Wright; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Holden, Valentine and Harrison; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Diehl; father, John Dinnan; husband, Evan Fuson; granddaughter, Lori Fravel: son-in-law, Dave Wright and her siblings.
