Sue Ann Sweet
Age 79, of Corunna, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, after fighting a long battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, August 21, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Michael O’Brien officiating. Sue will be laid to rest at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Thursday from 2pm to 8pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7pm.
Sue was born April 9, 1947, in Owosso, the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Marek) Zachar. She graduated from Owosso High School and spent her life devoted to the people and things she loved most-her family, her faith, and her community.
Sue was an active and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she led the Sunday rosary. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found great joy in serving others. She was someone who was always willing to volunteer, always ready to lend a helping hand, and always thinking of others.
For more than 55 years, Sue was a proud member of the National Council of Corvette Clubs and was a charter member of the Shiawassee Corvette Club, where she held the offices of secretary and treasurer. Her love of Corvettes brought many wonderful friendships and memories into her life, but it was the people she met along the way who meant the most to her.
On April 4, 1970, Sue married her forever best friend, James Sweet, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso. Together they shared more than 56 years of marriage.
Sue spent much of her life caring for her children and grandchildren. She gave so much of herself to her family and found her greatest happiness in being there for the people she loved. She treasured family gatherings, time spent together, and the simple moments that became lifelong memories.
Sue will be deeply missed by her husband, James Sweet; her children, Lisa (Joe) Greenfelder, Michelle (Todd) Holmes, and James (Kristine) Sweet; her grandchildren, Brendan, Claire, and Reese Greenfelder, Zachary (Madisen), Ryan (Madison), Alex, and Matthew Schwab, and James, Austin, Tyler, and Katelyn Sweet; her great-grandson, Henry Schwab; her brother, Dan Zachar; bonus grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alexander (Bailey) and Colsen Holmes; along with many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Zachar; her brother, Joseph Zachar; and her son-in-law, Peter Schwab.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul Catholic School.
