Alvin James Brainerd Jr. of Flint Township, passed away on November 24, 2022 with family by his side. He was 79 years young. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 30 at the Sharp Funeral Homes - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. Pastor Stephen Stahlhut will officiate with burial to follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Chesaning, Michigan.
Jim, as family and friends called him, was born in Livonia, Michigan on August 10, 1943 to the late Alvin and Edith (Smith) Brainerd. He served his country with the United States Navy from 1961 to 1966. Jim worked for General Motors before retiring after 31 years of service. He enjoyed deer hunting, card playing, ping pong, bowling and he cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years; Eunice; daughter, Julie (David) King of Sterling Heights and sons, Eric (Kathryn) Brainerd of Flint and Alvin James Brainerd III of Racine, WI. grandchildren; Tyler, Katie, Jacob, Brit, Michael, Melissa, Kenny, Saira-Beth and Autumn.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister; Eva Joy McClellan.
