Curtis Allen Harrison, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor passed away September 5th, 2026. He was born on September 25th, 1942 to Charles and Anna Harrison in Detroit Michigan.
Curtis grew up in Birmingham, Michigan and later attended the University of Michigan, where he met Elizabeth Quinn, who became his wife of 53 years. Together they built a family and raised their daughters, Elizabeth (Eric) Knudsen, Emily (Eric) Lieske and Jennifer (Jeffrey) Thornton in Flint, Michigan. Curtis was exceptionally proud of his 5 grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole), Abigail, Mara, Lorelei and Liam, and he especially loved having his whole family to gather up north at his home in Bay Harbor, Michigan.
After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1965 with dual degrees in Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, Curtis spent 42 years working for General Motors in various positions, retiring as the Director of Purchasing for Powertrain. Those who know Curt understand that retirement was temporary, so he devoted five more years to managing his wife’s family’s company, Roura Ironworks.
In addition to his career, Curt dedicated many years of service to the Alzheimer’s Association as a member of their board of directors and advocacy groups. His continuous love for his wife led him to this meaningful work, which he continued even after her passing in 2020.
Curtis was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Betsy, parents Bud and Elsie, and brother Ron. Along with his children and grandchildren, he leaves behind his siblings Ken (Jan) Harrison and Sally (Jim) Fraser, sister in-law Kathy (Cliff) Cox, special friend Donna Schuld and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a private family burial that will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey on September 14, 2026. A celebration of life will take place in June of 2027, where friends and family can come together to share memories.
