Doni was born on January 12, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Donald and Minnie (Campbell) McPherson. She graduated from Escanaba High School with the Class of 1975. On September 15, 1982, she married the love of her life, Michael Butzin, and together they shared many wonderful years filled with love and laughter. Doni was the proud owner of the Cotton Patch Quilt Shop in East Tawas for over 30 years and was an active member of various quilt guilds throughout the years. She had a true passion for quilting and loved spending time outdoors—swimming, camping, jeeping, and four-wheeling. She especially enjoyed fishing on Lake George and cherished the fond memories of working at her grandmother’s bait shop and the special moments they shared together. Doni was always the life of the party and the fun one, bringing joy and laughter wherever she went. Above all, her grandchildren were the light of her life. She treasured every moment with them, especially attending Mason’s sporting events and playing and singing with Harlie. She also dearly loved her dog, Grace.
Left to cherish her memory are: Husband, Michael Butzin; Daughters: Melissa (Rob) Lowe, and Heidi (Todd) Kline; Stepsons: Michael (Katy) Butzin, and Anthony (Alicia) Butzin; Grandchildren: Harlie Donielle, Mason (Riley), Delisa, Dylan, Dale, and Delaney; Special girls: Kelsey and Kendra; Siblings: Sherry Merkle, Terri (Tom) Neuens, Toni (Rusty) Bravender, and Matthew (Cheryl) McPherson; Many loving nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends. Doni was also preceded in death by: Grandmother, Ernestine Marks; Brother-in-law, Denny Merkle. Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
