ADKINS, Helen Marie (McQueen) – of Columbiaville, MI, age 83, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Carol J. Freeland officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Smith Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM-2 PM Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Forest Methodist Church, in Helen’s memory.
Helen was born in Flint, MI on November 12, 1939, daughter of the late Vern and Marie (McClain) McQueen. She married Douglas “Wayne” “Bootman” Adkins on June 18, 1955 and he preceded her in death on October 7, 2013. Helen retired from AC Spark Plug in June 1991 after 26 years of service. She enjoyed going to Florida every year, playing shuffleboard. Helen loved spending time with her family and her sister days.
Helen is survived by 3 children, Angela (Carl) Niles, Douglas Adkins and Rick (Pamela) Adkins; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara George, Dorothy (Sam) Zinn, Beverly Zinn, Karen (Larry) Betz and Nancy (Dan) Springsteen; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Marie McQueen; husband, Douglas “Wayne” “Bootman” Adkins; sister, Margaret Davis; grandson, Christopher Adkins.
