Martin, Doyle E. - Age 72, of Swartz Creek, died July 29, 2021, following a brief battle with Leukemia. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 3; and 11-1 PM Wednesday, August 4 at the funeral home. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
Doyle was born June 14, 1949 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Earl and Susan (Luke) Martin. He was a graduate of the Carman High School Class of 1968. Doyle enlisted in the Marine Corp and served his country from 1968-1972. He married Mary Bessolo in 1981. Doyle was always the life of the party and he loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and horticulture. He was a lifetime member of Swartz Creek VFW/AMVETS Post #3720 was a member of the Honor Guard.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary; daughters, Dana Massimino (Scott Rozencrantz), Courtney (Greg) Hummel, Kimberly Martin (Brandon Kaiser), grandchildren, Paige (Justin) Wilson, Garrett O'Brien, Kennedy and Aidan Hummel; great-grandchildren, Zane and Alea Wilson; his mother-in-law, Gwen Bessolo; sister, Sharon (Jim) Whatling; brothers, Dave (Lynn) Martin and Don Martin; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Christopher Martin; parents, Earl and Susan Martin; and siblings, Richard (Shirley) Martin, and Carol (Chuck) Sudbury. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com |
