MAES, Vera, age 92, of Flint passed away peacefully in the night of March 16th, surrounded by family.
Vera was born in Cadillac, Michigan on May 1st 1931 to Andrew and Eva (Truax) Hill. She was the 6th of 10 children. On March 26th 1949, she married the love of her life, Charles Louis Maes. During the ceremony, Vera wore a dress made from a World War II silk parachute made by her sister, Helen. After moving to Flint, Vera started working at AC Spark Plug in 1951, retiring after 32 years of service. She continued to enjoy many lasting friendships from her time there. After her retirement, she enjoyed many travel adventures with her friends including trips to Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and Switzerland. Vera loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and school functions. She was very proud of their accomplishments and loved telling everyone about them.
Left to cherish her memory is her Daughter Tracy Maes and Son in Law Joe Piotrowski of Grand Blanc, as well as her two grandchildren Nickolas and Ryann Piotrowski.
Vera is survived by her brother Richard Hill.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband as well as her parents, her brothers - Clyde, Claude, Bob, and Keith Hill; and her sisters - Helen Noaker, Mildred Hill and twin sisters Maxine Snider and Arlene Codden.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Chaplain Wally Rose officiating.
Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation 10am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Those who wish to, may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
