ALSTEEN, Lois Ann - of Clio, age 86, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Covenant Healthcare of Saginaw. Visitation with family will be held from 3-8 PM, Wednesday November 11, 2020 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home, Clio Chapel. Due to government regulations and Covid-19 restrictions, only 20 people are allowed in our chapel at one time and face masks are required for entry. Thank you for your understanding. A graveside service will be 1:00 PM Thursday November 12, 2020 at Flint Memorial Park (9506 N Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris). Pastor Ed Emmerling will be officiating the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Lois was born January 20, 1934 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin the daughter of Rudolph and Ruth (Patterson) Herskorn. She grew up and graduated from Rhinelander High School. On April 18, 1953, she married Herbert Martin Alsteen in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, he preceded her in death on February 17, 2002. Looking for work, Lois and Herbert made their way from Wisconsin to Flint in 1964. They later moved to Mt. Morris where they would raise their family. Lois was a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother. In her younger years she enjoyed working with ceramics. More recently she loved to crochet, making lap quilts for veterans in Saginaw. Lois also liked planting her flowers in the spring, interior decorating and cooking. She loved making her famous potato salad and having the family over for the holidays and get togethers. She also treasured birthdays, where she always tried to make each one special for every individual, and always had a birthday cake for them. She will truly be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Surviving are: Children, Nola Orth of Clio, Ruth (Donald) Dehmel of Clio, Diana (Larry) Hadsall of Birch Run, Martin Alsteen of Flint and Robert (Dena) Alsteen of Birch Run; Grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Sample, Janelle (Seth) Deisig, Gary Halvarson, Amanda (Bill) Goudy, Paige Halvarson, Katelyn Alsteen, Nola Alsteen, Oliva Alsteen, Emily Alsteen and Richard Doyle; Great Grandchildren, Alexander Sample, Luke Deisig, Chris Deisig, Mallayah Alsteen, Claudia Evans, Bella Halvarson and Carsyn Halvarson; Brother, Robert (Melvin) Herskorn of Flint; Nephews, Randy, Joe, John and Dan; Niece, Lori and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert, parents Rudolph and Ruth Herskorn and sister Peggy Trickey.
