NIXON, Barbara Jean. - of Corunna, age 73, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side, Friday, May 5, 2017. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Barb’s Life will be held 12PM Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Signature Chop House, 1537 E. Pierson Rd., in Flushing.
Barb was born December 17, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to the late Peter and Katie (Gandich) Derscha, she was the youngest of 11 siblings. Barb attended Northern High School. She married her teenage sweetheart, Dale A. Nixon in December of 1958. Barb enjoyed babysitting all the neighborhood kids, taking walks, and was an excellent cook - she would make you food whenever you wanted. Above all, Barb loved spending time with her family, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Surviving are: Husband, Dale A. Nixon of Corunna; Daughter, Deb Henze of Corunna; Son, Dale (Tammy) Nixon of Fenton; 4 grandchildren: Jordan Crawfis, Stevana Crawfis, Crystal Woodworth (Ryan Pattillo), and Noelle Nixon; Sisters: Mary Myers, Eva Hansen, and Kathy (Lex) Crooks; Sister in law, Audrey Derscha; Many other loving family members and friends. Barb was preceded in death by her siblings: George Derscha, Monda Takish, Mike Derscha, Peter Derscha, Louis Derscha, and Paul Derscha.
