Perkins, Marthamary J. of Grand Blanc, age 101, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Hyde Park Assisted Living. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at St. Robert Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Rossell Funeral Home and Noon Tuesday at the church until time of the Mass. A Vigil for the Deceased will be prayed 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
Marthamary was born in Flint, MI on March 19, 1913, the daughter of Joseph and Marie Antoinette (Oreans) Pence. She married Gordon Russell Perkins in Flint, MI in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Marthamary was an avid gardener. She did many crafts including pottery, painting, and sewing. At age 90, she hand-hooked a room-sized rug and also made many quilts.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by: two daughters, Carole and husband Frederick Brender of Flushing, Martha Mary and husband Larry Duley of West Branch; seven grandchildren, Gary Ambrose, Brian Ambrose, David Duley, Marianne Brender, Fred Brender, Suzanne Brender, Michael Brender; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Magee; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Richard DeSonia; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Marjorie Pence; and an infant son. |
