William was born in Adrian, Pennsylvania on February 8, 1931, the son of John and Martha (Meterko) Dubensky. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman from 1952-1954, during the Korean War, stationed in France. William married his kindergarten sweetheart, Elizabeth Ann Lazorcak on October 29, 1955, in Pennsylvania. They shared 67 years of marriage when she passed away on February 26, 2023. William retired from Buick City as a Supervisor after 36 years. Together with his wife, they enjoyed trips to various casinos. William was a faithful member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church where he was Past President of the Men’s Club, and Finance Council as well as a member of the Parish Council. He loved the Church and was always very involved; he could often be found on the weekends baking with his friends and family.
William enjoyed golfing, bowling and gardening. He cherished his role as a grandfather and was each of his grandchildren’s number one fan. He loved to see his grandchildren excel in school and rarely missed a game, piano concert or ballet recital. Aside from his grandkids, his biggest joy was meeting his great-grandchildren.
William was known to have a stockpile of the best sweets and offer them up once open. His family coveted his infamous Christmas fudge, which was always perfect. He had high standards and taught all of his family to measure three times to cut once. Most of all, his heart was full of love for his family which was evident by the tears in his eyes each time he had to say goodbye when one of the grandchildren were heading back to school or home. His faith, wife and family meant everything to him.
William is survived by his children, Mary and husband Dave Boling of Flushing, Bill and wife Ellen Dubensky of Traverse City, Martha and husband Denny Rau of Flushing; grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Boling and husband Dr. Phil Huang, David and wife Becky Boling, Andrew and wife Genevieve Boling, Ann and husband Andy Ramirez, John Dubensky, Elizabeth Rau, Justin and wife Carly Rau, Jacob Rau; great-grandchildren, Philip, Luke, Miles, Angela, Audrey, Mackenzie; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter, Susan Loiselle; and his parents. |
