BURKE, LaVonne E. – of Durand, formerly of Davison age 72, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at Heartland Health Care Center – Fostrian Assisted Living. A Private Service will be held at Allen Funeral Home, Interment to be in Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org), in LaVonne’s name. The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the staff at Fostrian Assisted Living and Care Team Hospice for their compassion and care.
LaVonne was born in Flint, Michigan on March 25, 1949, daughter of the late Clayton & Erma (Tacey) Smith. A graduate of Kearsley High School and Homecoming Queen, Class of 1967. She married her high school sweetheart Larry W. Burke on October 7, 1967. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2019. LaVonne was employed with Flint Osteopathic Hospital/Genesys Hospital for 25 years. LaVonne loved planting her flowers, jewelry making, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
LaVonne is survived by daughters, Andrea (Chris Lee) Perry-Lee and Trisha (Tod Watkins) Burke; grandchildren, Landon Perry, Alaina Perry, Victoria Burke, and Chloe Lee; great-grandchild, Addilyn Freeman; sister, Kathleen (Phil) Bammel, brothers; Vaughn (Diana) Smith, Brent (Cathy) Smith; mother-in- law, Joyce Burke; brothers-in-law, David (Dianne) Burke, Bill (Michelle) Burke, Richard Burke; Sister-in-law, Stephanie (Ric) Collins; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry; parents, Clayton & Erma Smith; brother, Clayton (Ronnie) Smith; niece, Jayne Smith; father-in-law, Burrell (B.W.) Burke and son-in-law, Scott Perry.
