SWART, Kathleen Anne “Kate” – of Montrose, age 50, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, January 4, 2021 at her residence. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private Funeral Mass will be held for the family at 3:00 PM Thursday January 14, 2021 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Montrose. A graveside memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Montrose Twp. Cemetery at a later date. You may live stream the service on the church website at www.goodshepherdmontrose.org/ or through their Facebook page at facebook.com/goodshepherdyouthmontrose. Live stream will start 5 minutes prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Genesee County Humane Society or Scleroderma Foundation – Michigan Chapter.
Kathleen was born December 14, 1970 in Flint, Michigan to Donald and Patsy (Gekeler) Swart. She was raised in Montrose and graduated Salutatorian from Hill-McCloy High School with the class of 1989; she then attended Aquinas College where she graduated in 1993 magna cum laude. She eventually went to Thomas M. Cooley Law School where she earned her law degree in 1999. On June 6, 2003 she married Louis H. Weller II in Saginaw, Michigan at the Montague Inn. While going to law school, Kate worked as an administrative assistant for the City of Flushing Police Department. She also operated her own private law practice in Montrose for many years. For the last several years she has been working as an Attorney Advocate for the Genesee County Circuit Court. Kate was a longstanding member of the State Bar of Michigan and active member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Montrose. She loved to read, study genealogy and travel. In college she was able to travel to Spain for a semester of foreign study and later traveled to Ireland with her parents in 2013. Most importantly, Kate loved and treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are: Husband of 17 years Louis of Montrose; Children: Daniel and Grace Weller of Montrose; Parents; Donald and Patsy of Montrose; Sister: Pamela (Mike) Polzin of Montrose; Father-in-Law: Louis G. (Pamela) Weller of Clio and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. She is preceded in death by her brother Jeffrey Swart; grandparents George & Leola Swart, Gerald & Gladys Gekeler and mother-in-law Holly Weller.
