BECKMAN, Donald Gerald - Age 79, of Grand Blanc, died in his home, March 4, 2014, surrounded by the love of his family. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Pastor Jim Gosnell officiating. Burial immediately following in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 12 - 8 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Beckman was born January 19, 1935 in Manila, AR, the son of Acey Ray and Florence (Giles) Beckman. He married Edith Evelyn Lemons February 6, 1954 in Flint and she preceded him in death December 25, 2004. He retired in 1993 from Otis Elevator after over 40 years of service. He had resided in Grand Blanc since 1956. Mr. Beckman was a charter member who actually helped construct Eastside Unity Missionary Baptist Church now known as Cornerstone Baptist Church; he currently was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Teamsters. He was very dedicated to his church, serving as both church clerk and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Beckman was a faithful servant of God for over 60 years.
Here to keep his memories and family legacy are: His children, Rick, Kathy (Jim), Tresa, Sherri, and Gerald; His grandchildren, Erik (Courtney), Heather (Ron), Brandon, Breanna, Darik, Kyndal (Will), Kaitlyn, Karah, and Tyler; His great grandchildren, Cameron, Ian, Isabella, Ryan, Dorian, Aiden, and Jarred; brother, Jim (Frieda); sister, Maxine (Johnny); brothers-in-law, Jesse and Glen (Julie); sister-in-law, Lois; and several nieces and nephews.
