Patricia Ann Sexton-Morey was born on March 16, 1943, to William Beverly Ballard and Bette Lois Ballard. Pat attended Beecher High School in Flint, graduating in 1961. A devout follower of Jesus, Pat gave her life to Jesus on January 15, 1961, at North Flint Church of the Nazarene.
Pat married James Walker Sexton, Jr. on February 24, 1962. Jim and Pat had two beautiful children, Bunnie Marie and Craig Gordon.
Her love for children took root as she began teaching children that Jesus loved them and gave His life for them. She and Jim served in the North Flint Church of the Nazarene for 31 years where they were loved and taught how to love and serve Jesus. They were known as “Aunt Pat” and “Uncle Jim”. Following her ministry studies at the Nazarene Bible College, she was ordained in July 1994 as Deacon in the Church of the Nazarene. She then served as Children’s Pastor for 5 years at Lapeer Church of the Nazarene and ministered at the Williams Lake Church of the Nazarene in Waterford. Pat and Jim’s ministry to children was their joy and passion.
Following a very brief illness, Jim died February 24, 1999. Pat’s life was sad and broken but God was faithful and brought healing and peace. She retired from the ministry but continued serving as a support to the young Children’s Pastor.
In 2017 Pat started attending Richfield Church of the Nazarene where she met a wonderful, Godly, Christian man, Donald Carl Morey. Don and Pat were married February 4, 2018. God has blessed their life together as they serve Jesus.
Pat leaves husband, Donald C. Morey; children: Bunnie Marie Carlisle and Craig Gordon (Kristin) Sexton; grandchildren: Kyle (Valerie) Carlisle, Eric (Madison) Carlisle, Cameron Sexton and Jason Sexton, and a great grandchild to parents Eric and Madison. She also leaves her siblings: Donna Jean (Bill) Schiestel, Mary Jane (Don) Koziol, Billie Jo (Leo) Frieburger, Lois Hoover, George Joseph (Stacia) Ballard II, and sister-in-law Frieda Kay Ballard, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were parents: William and Bette Ballard; husband, James Walker Sexton, Jr., and brother, Thomas H. Ballard.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Richfield Church of the Nazarene, 7524 E. Mt. Morris Rd., Otisville, MI 48463. The family asks that all who attend come with a smile, a story and wear something that reminds them of Pat whether that be a scarf, brooch, a bright sweater or something of their choosing. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Gideon’s International which is a beloved organization both to Pat and Don. Gideon’s International exists as an advocate for the lost, to bring them the saving knowledge of the Word.
