GAMELIN, Raymond J. – Of Burton, age 87, died Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 12 Noon Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Sister Alexiss Standokes officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 10am Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Raymond was born in Brimley, MI on July 14, 1936, the son of the late Herman and Alice (Reed) Gamelin. Raymond retired from General Motors Flint Truck and Bus after 32 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion.
Raymond served in the Air Force. Ray enjoyed bowling & camping with the family, he loved his Western films as well as game shows, especially Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He indulged in classic horror and loved all things Stephen King. He also found great joy in tinkering around inside and outside of his home fixing and building things. Ever the green thumb, Ray had a knack for making things grow and bringing plants back to life.
Surviving daughter, Arlene Standokes and son, Mark Gamelin;
grandchildren, Johnnie Standokes, Alexiss Standokes, Dawsen (Raymie) Hebb, Cody (Beka) Gamelin, Joseph Gamelin, and Rachel (Rob) Brock;
daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gamelin;
and sister-in-law, Jackie Gamelin.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, sons, Raymond, and David, sisters, Betty Lowe, Ella Roach, and Donna Delong, brothers, Herman and Wilford Gamelin.
