VARGO, Michele M. "Shelley" – of Clio, age 64, died Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Gentiva Hospice in Flint after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Monday, January 6, 2014 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. 609 E 5th Ave, Flint, 48503. Fr. Paul Schermer officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery on Tuesday at 10 am. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-8 pm, with a Prayer Service at 7 pm lead by Deacon Michael Dear. She will lie instate at the church on Monday from 10 am until time of services at 11 am. Contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church.
Michele was born October 24, 1949 in Toledo, OH to the late Robert and Hertha (Stephenson) Hill. She attended Beecher High School and received her RN degree from Mott Community College. Michele married David Vargo on December 30, 1971. She retired after 22 years from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hurley Hospital in 2004. Michele was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church and was involved in fundraisers for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN). She was a published author and had a great passion for writing, traveling and spending her time with family and friends.
Surviving are: husband, David; children, Robin (Tim) Bischof of Indianapolis, IN, Regan Vargo (Bret Slocum) of Lake Orion; David Jr. (Kimberly) Vargo of Springfield, VA; 10 grandchildren, Sophia, Samantha, Sarah, Mason, Joseph, Matthew, Madelyn, Sydney, Jessica, Elizabeth; siblings, Claudia (Derek) Ingham of Bucyrus, OH, Robert (Cindy) Hill of Clio, Heidi (Wayne) Joubert of Grand Ledge; many other family.
