Hargrave, Linda Mae (Powell) age 83 passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at her residence with her son's Clarence and Tommy by her side. Funeral gathering will be held from 1:00-4:00 PM, Friday, January 3, 2024, at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI. Cremation to follow. Linda was born on May 11, 1941, in Flint, MI, the daughter of the late Otis and Beatrice (Hamilton) Powell on Mother's Day. She grew up in Flushing and Montrose, MI. Linda met the love of her life at a drive-in theater, and they were later married on October 24, 1959, in Flushing, MI. They were married for 64 years until his death July 16, 2023. She raised six children and almost every night had a home cooked meal on the table. Her children always came first. Linda loved to crochet blankets, baby outfits and potholder's for family. She also enjoyed reading books, magazines and put puzzles together. Linda never met a stranger. Wherever she went she would start a conversation about anything and usually we would have to say to her....come on, we have to get going! She will be forever missed. Our family's hearts are broken but we know she is a peace, happy, healthy and most of all with her husband, son, parents, sisters and brothers. Linda is survived by her sons Clarence, Thomas (Rick) of Flint, MI, Ardell Jr of Burton, MI, daughters; Christina (Michael)Dunavan of Ill, Denise (Charles) Williams, Lisa Hargrave both of S.C; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister/best friend, Nancy (Kenneth) Krueger of MN; sisters-in-law; Katie Powell of Flushing , MI, Rose Powell of Flint, MI, brother-in-law Thomas Hargrave of FL, many nieces and nephews whom she loved as if they were her own; friends Shirley Davis of Gladwin, MI, Campbell family, adopted children; Tonia Pruitt of Beaverton, MI, Tina Garrow of Flint, MI, Jason Brinker of GA. Linda was preceded in death by her husband Ardell Hargrave Sr., son Otis Hargrave, 3 brothers, 5 sisters and many in-laws. Our family would like to thank hospice for the great care they showed our mother. Mom wanted just a viewing, something quick. She requested that those that can make it to the gathering, dress casually. Due to the short notice we understand that not everyone can make it. |
