RHODES, Aldina
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Aldina on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the age of 75, at her residence at Abbey Park in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Aldina was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby, her mother, Leonor Malones, her father Alejo “Alex” Malones, her brother Albert, her sister Lisa, and her brothers, Roy and Leo.
Aldina is survived by her, step-children, Jeff Rhodes (Donna) and granddaughter Tiffany; Jody (David) Miller and grandchildren, Erin, Jacob and Samantha; her nephew, Vincent (Michelle) Malones and Anthony and Isabella; special friends, Wayne and Rebecca Kinning and children Allison, Sarah and (Godson) Michael; close friend, Irene Pilinyi and her kind, loving step sisters.
Aldina was born on June 19, 1947 in Las Pinas, Rizal - in the outskirts of Manila, Philippines. The second of five children, her full name was Aldina Aglubat Malones, later to be changed to Aldina Susan Malones-Rhodes. She graduated from high school and went to Nursing school at the Philippine Union College where she earned her nursing degree early and was at the top of her class making the Dean’s list each semester.
Aldina came to California in 1972 with a group of school mates she remained close with for many years. She has lived in the Flint/Grand Blanc area since 1973. She was a Med-surg nurse at McLaren for almost the entirety of her career, retiring in 2007. Aldina met her husband, Bobby Lee Rhodes, while he was her patient at McLaren. They married on June 25th, 1978, at the quaint Little Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Jeff and Jody at their sides.
Aldina loved spending time with her family and her friends. She would make any excuse to have people over. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed entertaining guests in her beautiful house and garden with her Filipino cuisine. Aldina and Bob loved to travel, getting away to Florida, Hawaii, or North Carolina whenever they could. Her faith was also very important to her. She was an active member at the Church of the Holy Family in Grand Blanc.
Anyone who knew Aldina will say what a generous and giving soul she was. She was always ready to reach out and help anyone, a neighbor, friend, relative or someone from her church. This girl loved to shop. Jewelry was at the top of her ‘to-buy’ list with rings being her favorite! She was so glamorous - always having the perfect nails, jewelry and hair. She also loved picking out just the right gift for friends, neighbors and grandchildren for no reason at all - just because she wanted to make someone happy.
Aldina spent her last few months in hospice care at Abbey Park. We are so grateful for the kindness and compassionate care that she received there. Thank you to Abbey Park, The Med Team and the Hospice Care Nurses.
Aldina will always be remembered as a wonderful, thoughtful, kind person and a beautiful wife, step-mother, Grandmother, Auntie, Godmother and friend.
There will not be an official funeral. Family and friends wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to Wounded Warrior Project or the Church of the Holy Family in Grand Blanc, MI.
Mahal Kitá, Aldina, may you Rest In Peace.
