ROBERTS, Tommy, Jr. – Of Flushing, age 84, died Monday, September 17, 2012 at Fostrian Manor.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Tom Mattiuzzo officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation 2-4 and 6- 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Roberts was born in Yazoo, Mississippi on October 18, 1927,
the son of the late Tommie and Mabel (Son) Roberts.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a recreational pilot, receiving his license in 1950.
On June 16, 1956 he married Carole Slosar in Mt. Morris, Michigan and had been married for 56 years.
Mr. Roberts was a registered architect and operated his business, Tommy Roberts Jr. Architect AIA from 1967 and closed in 2008. He designed numerous residential and commerical buildings in the area, including Sports Creek Race Track, churches, office buildings, daycare centers, nursing homes and all Pro-Clean buildings, including the central office.
Surviving are wife, Carole;
daughter, Ann Marie Pounds of Branson, Missouri;
son, Daniel of Flint;
brothers, James and Robert (Sandy);
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son, John Thomas and sister, Mary Ann.
