REED, William A. – Of Flint, age 71, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1pm Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Bud Welton officiating.
Visitation 11am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
William was born in Flint, Michigan on February 11, 1952, at Flint General Hospital, the son of William F. and Donna J. (Doutre) Reed. William retired from Delphi in Saginaw, Michigan in 2006 after 33 years of service. He entered the Navy on June 25, 1969 and was stationed on the USS John F. Kennedy. William attended firefighting school and damage control school. William received the National Defense Service Medal and was Honorably discharged on June 15, 1971. He was a golden glove boxer in his younger years, and enjoyed music greatly his whole life. William married Charlotte Ann Cline on September 19, 1992 in South Branch, Michigan. This year they would have celebrated 31 wonderful years of marriage.
William is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte A. Reed;
children, Jodi (Kenny) Matthews, Karrie (Mike) Zielesch, Danny (Linda) LaPorte, Vicki Perkins, Tom (Wanita) Sape, Chantell (Darren) Slupka, Max Harvey, Joseph (Sarah) Youmans;
siblings, Mike Reed, Kathy Putney, Jill (Robert) Kendrick, Daniel Reed, Gary (Gail) Reed;
brother-in-law, Ron Reed; like a brother, John (Maxine) Mitchel;
26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, three additional that are like children, Virginia Rossiter, Andrew Reed (Erika Mobley);
several nieces, nephews and cousins;
special niece, Lisa (John) Lindsey and special nephews, Gus (Cyndi) Collins and Carl (Stacy) Wice.
William was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nancy Reed, brother, Robert Reed, brother-in-law, Clarence Putney, brother-in-law, Clyde Cline, brother-in-law, Cal Brown and wife Sharon, sister-in-law, Delores Reed, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sally and Dwight Dery, son, Scott and wife Bernice, and granddaughter, Mindy Leigh Saxton.
