MCNIEL, Mary – of Montrose, formerly of Missouri, age 75, died Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the Baylor Scott and White Hospital in McKinney, Texas. Funeral service will be held 1PM Monday, April 17, 2023, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Monday from 11AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 10:30AM Tuesday, April 18, 2023. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
Mary was born February 9, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, to James and Mildred (Davis) Knowles. She married the love of her life, Bernard McNiel, on May 25, 1968. Together they shared 54 years of marriage and raised four beautiful children. Prior to moving to Texas, Mary was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose and was an active member of the Eagles during her younger years. Mary enjoyed reading, especially romance novels, and spending time with family.
Mary is forever loved by her husband, Bernard McNiel; Children: James (Jennifer) McNiel of Rossford, Ohio, Mary (Steve) McNiel-Birri of Trenton, Texas, and Christopher (Sara) McNiel of Montgomery City, Missouri; Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Mother, Mildred Knowles; Siblings: Helen Lemly of Fort Bragg, California, James Knowles of Kittery, Maine, Ruth Evans of Kansas City, Missouri, Laura Patterson of Cameron, Missouri, and Anita Knowles of Kansas City Missouri; Several nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Bernard D. McNiel II; Father, James Knowles; Sister, Joyce Longueil. |
