Kolanowski, Gail M. Flint, MI, Age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 1, 2021, surrounded by her family. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Gail was born in Flint, MI on January 31, 1943, the daughter of E. Dean Rockafellow and Dorothy E. Bryan. Surviving are daughter, Shelli (Fenton) Marriner of Burton, son Jeff (Jo-Ellen) Morris of Flint. Four grandchildren, Alyssa Marriner, Devin Marriner, Kyle (Melissa) Morris and Kayla Morris. Four great grandchildren, Janson, Roslynn, Landon and Nova. Sister, Judith (Richard) Kirby of Traverse City. Stepchildren, Jeff Kolanowski, Greg (Stephanie) Kolanowski, and Amy Kolanowski. Several nieces, nephews, and many great friends. She was preceded in death by her Daddy E. Dean Rockafellow in 1957, Mother Dorothy (Bryan) Brown in 2004, husband Ronald K. Kolanowski in 1991 and her little sister, Ellen K. Guy in 1987.
Gail was a resident of Flint her entire life. She graduated from Flint Central High School, Class of 1961 and was a proud Central Indian. Gail had many skills and talents that she used daily to make her life and those around her better. She owned and operated two businesses, String n’ Beads and Sterling Dimensions, as well as a non-profit support group for widow(er)s, Picking up the Pieces. Gail was a go getter, she never stayed still. She was always up for a new adventure and never afraid to take a risk. She enjoyed NASCAR, camping, traveling, and especially chocolate. Gail was confident in herself and helped build the confidence of those around her. She enjoyed crafts and was known for her annual Christmas ornaments that everyone loved. Gail was such a positive person and never had an unkind word to say. She loved to smile and made sure everyone around her was wearing one. She often told others she collected smiles. More than anything she loved her family, not only by telling us but by showing us. She may have been small in stature but she was large in love.
Visitation will be from 10am-12pm, Monday, November 15, 2021 the family asks that you share your stories of remembrance from 12pm-1pm at Brown funeral home 1480 E. Hill Rd Grand Blanc, MI. Final interment will be at Crestwood cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to My Heart Supports the Troops PO Box 320 112 Flint, MI 48532. |
