BALE, John E.– of Burton, age 77, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023. He died peacefully in his sleep at his winter home in Lakeland, FL.
John was the son of the late William John and Rosalind Carpenter Bale. He was born in Flint, MI on September 28, 1946. John was preceded in death by his in-laws, Lloyd and Irene Domine. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Williams) Bale of Burton, MI. Also survived by his brother-in-law, John Williams and his wife Carolyn of Swartz Creek, MI and their children; brother, David Bale and his wife, Sandra of Linden, MI and their children.
John graduated from Flint Central High School in 1964, Mott Community College in 1972 and Eastern Michigan University in 1974, with a degree in Secondary Education. John began teaching at Davison High School in 1974. He taught for over 25 years before retiring in 2000. He served in the Army at Fort Jackson, SC as a Drill Sergeant and was Honorably Discharged in January 1968.
John and Mary Ann Williams married in Flint, MI, May,1974 and would have been married 50 years in May 2024. While at Davison H.S., John was the junior and senior golf coach for the boys and girls golf teams. After he retired from coaching golf, he remained friends with some of his high school golfers, John Robinson, Ryan Carlson, Jenny Peters Mead and Michele Peters Clark. When John retired from teaching he told everyone he was going to play golf everyday until he got tired of golfing. He never tired of playing golf with his friends. John had 8 hole-in-ones. The first was witnessed by his Dad and 5 were witnessed by his golf partner, Terry Jones. He had many golfing friends in Michigan, Terry Jones, Craig Wadsworth, Tom Weadock, Jim Ballard and many more. In Florida he had many friends to golf with.
Cremation has taken place and no service has been scheduled at this time.
