LAWRENCE, Leila Mabel (Streeter) – of Davison, MI, age 78, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at McLaren – Lapeer Region. An Outdoor Memorial Celebration will be held from 3-6 PM on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Lawrence Residence in Davison, MI, where a potluck will be available for those in attendance. Visitation will be held from 12-1:30 PM on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423.
Leila was born in Prescott, MI on May 22, 1942, daughter of the late Ellis George and Mabel May (Clark) Streeter. She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Robert Lawrence, 60 years ago on April 8, 1961 and they lived in Prescott and Flint before moving to their Davison residence in 1969. Leila was a member of the Davison Free Methodist Church, where over the years she was a leader in Women’s Missionary International, Bible studies and small groups, funeral dinner coordinator and more. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Davison Band and Orchestra booster and Choir booster. She worked beside her husband and son in their family business for many years.
Leila is survived by her husband, Kenneth Lawrence; 3 children, Lorene Leila Corbett of Davison, MI, Melanie May (Kirk) Diehl of Hubbard Lake, MI and Royce Robert Lawrence of Davison, MI; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many others who called her “Mom.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis George and Mabel May Street; 4 brothers; a foster daughter and 3 grandchildren.
