MANNING, Alice Maureen (Mullally) – of Mount Morris, MI, age 81, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 11110 Saginaw Street, Mount Morris, MI, 48458; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Mount Morris, MI. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-1 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, Masses may be offered in Alice’s memory.

Alice was born in Flint, MI on June 21, 1942, daughter of the late John Patrick and Mary Julia (Vermette) Mullally. She was a graduate of St. Mary Catholic High School, Mount Morris, MI Class of 1960. Alice furthered her education, earning a Bachelor of Education degree from Nazareth College, Kalamazoo, MI. On August 8, 1964, she joyfully embarked on a new chapter, marrying John Thomas Manning, with whom she shared countless moments of love and companionship until John’s passing on July 28, 1999. Alice's teaching journey led her to third-grade classrooms in southern Chicago, IL, where she nurtured young minds and left an indelible mark. Her dedication to education extended further as she founded a Montessori School in Indianapolis, IN impacting the lives of even more students. For 25 years, Alice worked as a legal assistant beside her beloved husband, John, a testament to their strong bond and shared professional pursuits. Alice was a woman of many talents and passions. Her love for travel took her to new and exciting places, fueling her adventurous spirit. An avid reader, she found joy and inspiration in the written word. Her heart resonated with Irish music, creating a soundtrack that echoed the melodies of her life. Known for her positive outlook and infectious smile, Alice embraced life with a "Why not?" attitude. Her ability to weave tales, share jokes, and deliver puns could effortlessly brighten any room. She possessed the rare gift of making people smile, and her warm, ever-present smile became a reflection of her inner joy and thanksgiving.

Alice is survived by 3 siblings: Sister Ellen Eileen Mullally, CSJ of Mount Morris, MI, Michael Martin Mullally of Saginaw, MI and Joseph Patrick Mullally of Carbondale, CO; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Patrick and Mary Julia Mullally; husband, John Thomas Manning; son, Shaun Francis Manning; daughter, Maura Bridget Manning; 6 siblings: John Joseph Mullally, Thomas Matthew Mullally, Kathleen Elizabeth Craney, Mary Margaret Poletti, James Daniel Mullally and identical twin sister, Sister Agnes Colette Mullally, CSJ.

The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to all those who cared for Alice during her illness. The efforts and love extended by everyone enabled Alice to find comfort and peace during her last year.
