Baker, Joy Beth of Flushing, age 63, died Monday, October 31, 2022. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2022, at St. Michael Catholic Church-Maple Grove, 17994 Lincoln Rd. New Lothrop, Michigan 48460. Fr. John Cotter will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Metavivor, for Metastatic Breast Cancer Support and Research.
Joy was born on June 18, 1959, the daughter of Robert and Rosemary (Boyle) Starks. She married Eugene Baker on October 22, 1988, at St. Pius Catholic Church in Flint. Joy graduated from Central Michigan University and worked for General Motors as a Project Manager. Joy was very artistic and enjoyed photography and painting. She was an avid music lover, U2 being her favorite, and enjoyed going to concerts. As an annual pass holder, she loved all things Disney. Joy spent much time as a dance mom and loved reality TV. She was a Detroit Pistons and U of M fan. Joy was a human rights advocate, even if her opinion was unpopular, she always wanted the best for people. She loved visiting Traverse City. She will be remembered as a dog lover and always the life of the party.
She will forever be remembered and loved by her husband of 34 years, Eugene; children, Emily and husband Gare Sartore, Andrew Baker; grandson, Elliot Sartore; sisters, Karen and husband John Giedrojc, Laurie and husband Rich Pierce, Nancy and husband Brian Jenkins; brothers-in-law, James and wife Janet Baker, Timothy and wife Valerie Baker, Thomas Baker, Gregory and wife Angela Baker; sisters-in-law, Nancy Baker, Kathryn McGown; Mary Jensen; many nieces and nephews; several dear friends; and beloved dogs, Frankenstein and Wally. Joy was preceded in death by her son, Alex; parents, Robert and Rosemary Starks; and parents-in-law, Bernie and Marilyn Baker. |
