ALMASSY, Joseph -- Age 93, of Williamston, died July 20, 2014. Committal services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 23 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery at 1:45 PM Wednesday.
Mr. Almassy was born August 10, 1920 in Phoenixville, PA, the son of Louis and Ethel (Vajda) Almassy. He married Emma Kosik on November 4, 1939 in Flint; she preceded him in death on September 6, 2006.
He joined the Navy in 1944 and served in WWII. He was a dedicated member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church.
Surviving are; son, Robert and wife Carolyn Almassy of Alexandria, VA; daughter, Patricia and husband Dr. Ronald Bradley of Williamston, MI; brothers Lewis and wife Phyllis Almassy of Burton, Edward and wife Genevieve Almassy of Flint; sisters, Ethel Kosik of Oscoda, Viola Bradshaw of Florida; grandchildren,
Cynthia Strollo, Michael Almassy and wife Debbie, Darryl Almassy and wife Kathy, Dr. Christopher Bradley, Dr. Sara Bradley; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Meghan Strollo, Emma and Abigail Almassy, Heather and Tiffany Myrga, Jessica Hoare, William Durrer and Gabriella Almassy.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
