Baker, Sidney Darrel - Age 83, of Mundy Township, died March 13, 2022. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday March 23 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, Fr. Steve Anderson celebrant. Interment at 1:30 PM Wednesday, March 23 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday March 22 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road with a 7 PM Vigil service; and 10-11 AM Wednesday March 23 at Holy Redeemer. Those desiring may make contributions to the Care Team Hospice. Sidney was born June 6, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Edwin M. and Minnie Viola (Duffy) Baker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Margaret Wagner on July 18, 1959 in Toledo, Ohio. He served as a police officer for Oregon, Ohio for 5 years, and then the City of Flint for 25 years, retiring as Lieutenant in 1990. After retirement he went back to work at Baker College in Security and worked until he was 75 years old. Surviving are: his wife of 62 years, Margaret; four children, Tammara Marie Wichlacz (Kevin), Stephen Thomas Baker (Paula), Malinda Wagner Baker (Mark), Ann Marie Rose Baker; grandchildren, Ashley (David), Sara (Josh), Jessie (James), Samantha (Nick), Emily (Adam), Megan (John), Tony, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, McKenzey, Dezaray, Loralye, Paisley, Emerlynn, Melody, Shelby, Henry, Noah Marie; brothers, Lester Dale Baker (Judy), Edwin Merle Baker (Donna). He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don Baker; and granddaughter Nickie Nabor. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
