HAMPTON, William Charles “Bill” – Of Flint, MI, age 94, died Monday, May 9, 2022 at Regency at Grand Blanc.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the
Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Chip Collins officiating,
Graveside service at Crestwood Cemetery, Grandson, Heath Walraven officiating.
Visitation 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and 12 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
William was born in Marmaduke, Arkansas on March 3, 1928, the son of the late Elbert Elihue and Elsie Irene (McBride) Hampton.
On January 22, 1957 he married Frances Taylor and she preceded him in death in 2010.
He served in the U.S. Army receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1947.
He was Past Master in 2000 of Morning Star Masonic Lodge #556 of Swartz Creek.
William retired from Fisher Body, Grand Blanc in 1975.
Surviving are children Robert (Cathy) Hampton,
Susan DeVernay, both of Grand Blanc and Sherry Walraven of Calhoun, Georgia;
6 grandchildren;
8 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; daughter, Janet Coleman and brother, Leroy (Thelma) Hampton
