Ronald “Jack” Fry was born on November 25, 1936, in Eagle Lake, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Lorne and Charlotte (Godfrey) Fry. He graduated from Haliburton High School in June 1954 and moved to Michigan in January 1955. Shortly after, he began working at AC Spark Plug before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1956. Jack proudly served until 1959, spending his final year stationed in the Pacific Theatre, including Hawaii. Following his military service, Jack worked as a semi-truck and bread truck driver for three years before joining General Motors in 1962 as a plant security officer. In June 1968, he fulfilled a lifelong goal by becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen. The following year, he completed an apprenticeship to become a pipe fitter, a trade he practiced until his retirement in 1992. Never one to stay idle, Jack earned his builder/contractor license in 1994 and took great joy in helping others with construction projects. He obtained a career diploma as an Electrician in 2003 and a HVAC Technician in 2012. Jack married Maria Gonser on June 7, 1996. In 1997, he and his wife Maria began wintering in Florida, where they could continue their passion for motorcycling in warm weather and camping with the family. He also enjoyed fishing trips to Ontario with his brother Bill and took great pride in having ridden his motorcycle with Maria across all of the lower 48 states and Canada. Jack was a proud member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, the Moose Lodge, the State Builders Association, and Trinity Lutheran Church.
