BAKER, Violet Alline – of Clio, age 93, died Monday, January 1, 2024 at Angel Manor. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, January 5, 2024 at Bethany United Methodist Church. Rev. Kayla Roosa officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan and from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Friday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Genesee County Meals on Wheels or McLaren Hospice.
Violet was born November 6, 1930 in Parma, Missouri to the late John and Lillie (James) Putney. She grew up in Morehouse, Missouri and graduated from Morehouse High School with the class of 1948. On May 29, 1948 she married Elbert Baker and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1996. Prior to her retirement in 1993, Violet worked as a Clerk for Kroger’s with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars # 175 in Linden, Michigan and served in several of the leadership positions. Violet enjoyed dancing, reading and traveling to Alaska, Europe, Panama Canal, and Hawaii.
Surviving are: Children, Quentin (Machiko) Baker, Sherry Baker, Elden (Concetta) Baker, Terry Lynn (Wilhem) Blessing, Barry Baker; 13 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; 8 Great-Great Grandchildren; Sister, Ora Putney; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Grandson, Brian Blessing; Great-Great Grandson, Archie Wheeler; and 15 siblings.
